Thai rubies are rather rare now as they have stopped production. Thailand was an important source of rubies many years back. Their rubies had a good colour and clarity combination. The Thai's were also the ones that perfected heat treatment on rubies and sapphires. They also had excellent cutters and they had a culture that is familiar with gemstones.
This 1.15ct Thai ruby is cut in a rather unique shape, like a longish shield. It would be suited for any kind of jewellery though a pendant comes to my mind. - Tay Kunming
